CLIFTON-on-Teme's point-to-point meeting at Upper Sapey produced competitive racing despite the persistent rain.

Two national awards were decided with Nokimover taking the PPORA Club Novice Riders race and South-western claiming the Mixed Open.

Nokimover, partnered by Alex Vaughan-Jones, was opposed by Raka King and Felix de Giles as the main challenger for the Harley Riders' Novice Championship.

Victory in the race would have given either one the championship.

De Giles was returning after six weeks off with a broken leg but, despite all his best efforts, Nokimover was always travelling best.

He drew clear to score by 14 lengths to take the race and the championship. Meanwhile, the Mixed Open race saw 13 runners go to post with multiple winner Southwestern sent off an odds-on favourite.

Despite a valiant attempt by eventual runner-up Clever Dickie and Mark Wall, the favourite had more than enough in reserve to take the race by six lengths and secure victory in the Weatherbys Young Horse award series.

Owner and trainer Clive Bennett has long held a high opinion of his runner Greensleeves and his charge did not let him down.

A brave front-running attempt by recent Bredwardine winner Arrows Gold did give Greensleeves, partnered by Polly Gundry, problems.

But the horse swept into the lead approaching the second last fence and drew away to score by 12 lengths.
