A £2 million road resurfacing programme has started on Warwickshire roads.

The Warwickshire County Council project, which is due to be completed by September, involves more than 320 sites - from A-roads to residential cul-de-sacs.

Drivers are being warned to go slow over the new surfaces - and to watch out for con men. Highways contract manager Peter Samwell said: "Drivers should keep their speed below 20mph through areas being treated with surface dressing to help minimise the hazard of flying chippings thrown up by tyres."

He added Carillion, the council's highway maintenance contractor, was notifying residents when work was starting.

He added: "Carillion will not carry out any private surface dressing work and therefore people must be wary of bogus contractors offering such services."

Roads affected will include Tything Road in Alcester, the B4088 in Salford Priors, Waterloo Road and Salford Road in Bidford and Georges Elm Lane in Broom. The road outside the school in Haselor, Alcester Road in Little Alne and Stratford Road in Wooton Wawen will also be resurfaced.
