FASHION with a conscience will be on sale and display in Alcester.

A garden party and fashion show with a difference will be held on Saturday to showcase the fair trade clothes and crafts of third world countries.

Organiser Elizabeth Davey said: "I want to promote trade with the third world and help people improve their standard of living. By having this garden party I can show people of Alcester what we are all about and perhaps give them a chance to buy the products."

Now a representative for the fair trade company Trade Crafts, Elizabeth originally became involved when she worked as a nurse in Bangladesh at the age of 25.

She said seeing the huge difference between wealth and poverty made her realise she needed to do something to help.

The day will be a chance for visitors to sample fairly traded food and drink, take part in some garden games and see the clothes on offer.

Mrs Davey, who will be hosting the party at her Allimore Lane home, said: "Trade with the west makes all the difference to people in these countries.

"I'm not trying to make a profit, I'm trying to make people aware of fair trade."

Entrance to Field House costs £4 (free for students) and the party and show run from 3-7pm.
