ROWNEY Green residents are celebrating after a grant for £2,555 was secured to help modernise the village hall.

The hall's refurbishment sub-committee applied for a grant from Awards for All to help pay for the architect's feasibility study.

Rowney Green residents were initially sent a questionnaire asking what they required of the village hall by way of updating and modernisation. The response was analysed and the varying points will be used in the plans.

The architect appointed by the committee, Keith Chandler, of Clist and Chandler, Pershore, is currently working on three design options for residents to consider at a future public meeting.

A committee spokesman said: "We have a very active fundraising team in our village but will have to apply for bigger grants if we are to get the level of funding we need for the amount of work we plan to do during the modernisation. We have lots of work ahead of us."
