A KIND-hearted Webheath man will soon be taking the first steps to raising vital funds for three charities.

Tony Fallon, 35, will be joined by companions Mike Fallon, Anthony Walke and John Dixon in a 115-mile walk from Land's End to Boscastle in Cornwall.

The trek, which starts on Friday, is a follow-up to a walk last year when Mr Fallon covered the 134 miles from Looe to Land's End along the south Cornwall coastal path over nine days.

Mr Fallon will raise money for the Primrose Hospice's palliative care unit at the Princess of Wales Community Hospital in Bromsgrove, CAFOD, which works alongside some of the world's poorest people and Blue Cross, an animal welfare agency for sick and abandoned animals.

"The palliative care unit is a brilliant place. I had an aunt who was in there two years ago and I saw the fantastic work staff did, not only for patients but for families who are going through such a difficult time," said Mr Fallon.

"CAFOD does wonderful work at grass roots level. It doesn't give handouts but helps make people in some of the poorest countries more self-sufficient."

And explaining his choice of Blue Cross, Mr Fallon said: "We have had a couple of pets from there and know the great work it does. And the charity keeps all animals it cannot re-home."

Last year, he raised raised more than £1,000 and hopes to do even better this year. To sponsor him, call 450819.
