Prudden Road Surfacing League

STUDLEY moved up to second spot in the Premier Division after with a 4-0 victory over Littleton.

This result, together with Shipston losing by the same scoreline at Stratford, pushed the former down to third place and left current champions Stratford at the summit.

Inkberrow, meanwhile, moved up to equal fourth after a 3-1 win over bottom of the table FISSC.

Determined

Studley were fortunate to host a below strength Littleton side who started in determined fashion as Ian Smith and Richard Herborn fought hard before going down in three sets to Chris Hughes and Gary Jackson 6-4, 6-7, 7-5.

The Studley pair then went on to defeat Mark Hubbard and John Fielder 6-2, 6-0.

On the other court Dave Innes and Chris McGregor overcame Hubbard and Fielder 6-2, 6-1 and Smith and Herborn 6-3, 6-3, to give the hosts all four points.

Stratford had braced themselves for a tough match against Shipston and it proved that way despite a rather flattering final margin of victory.

Callum Bailey and Rob Slatter only broke serve twice to take a straight sets victory 6-4, 6-4 over Adam Moran and Ross Tugwood.

The top side's duo then beat Ed Bosley and Toby Kemp 6-2, 6-1, while Tim Page and Simon West defeated Bosley and Kemp 6-3, 6-2 before having to pull out all the stops to get the better of Moran and Tugwood 6-4, 3-6, 6-3.

Inkberrow and FISSC provided the best match of the week that produced close games in three out of the four rubbers, before the hosts tipped the balance to win 3-1.

Jim Richardson and Graham Rankin defeated Ali Kashani and Mat Baker 6-3, 6-3, and Steve Turner and Nigel Yates 6-1, 6-2.

Meanwhile captain Alex Woo-dbridge and Adam Hill found it harder to beat Turner and Yates 6-4, 7-6 on a tie-break and then really struggled before succumbing to Kashani and Baker 3-6, 6-4, 4-6.

The leading trio in Division 1, Campden, Evesham and Strat-ford C, stretched further away from the remainder of the division after recording 4-0 victories over Bidford, Aston Cantlow and FISSC B respectively.

Just two points now separate leaders Campden from Stratford C in third, however there is now a further nine-point gap to Tanworth, whose 3-1 reverse at Littleton saw the home side's B team lift themselves off the foot of the table.

Division Two saw a top of the table clash between Moreton-in-the-Marsh and Inkberrow B whose 3-1 victory lifted them equal on points with Moreton who slip to second.

Drubbing

Pershore moved up from fifth to third after a 4-0 drubbing of Studley B, while Stratford E slipped a place to fourth after a 2-2 draw with HDA Redditch.

Shock results littered the week in the third division where previous leaders Littleton C and Ilmington suffered heavy defeats at the hands of Chipping Campden B and Ardencote Manor respectively.

The latter now lead the division by three clear points after their 4-0 thrashing of Ilmington. Campden's win was even more surprising as the third from bottom side trounced Littleton 4-0 to move up to equal third alongside Whitnash and Ilmington.

Whitnash, with games in hand, continued their undefestaed start with an emphatic 4-0 win over Bidford B.

It's all change in Division Four after the withdrawal of Ullenhall who are unable to field teams to fulfil their fixtures.

Claverdon C held on to top spot thanks to a 4-0 victory over Shipston B.

Despite Moreton B being held to a 2-2 draw by Har-bury, they move up to second at the expense of Alcester B who were inactive due to Ullenhall's problems.
