Trio of youngsters take section successes at Farm

FIFTH round action in the Townsend Series took place at Willow Farm Fishery last Saturday when Mathew Kinnersley, Dave Beasley and Mark Malin topped their respective sections.

The next matches will take place in the river when the season opens.

The Rob Langston Trophy will be fished on Saturday, June 17 at a venue yet to be decided, draw at 9am.

The Journal Series will take place on eight successive nights on the Crown Meadow waters starting on Monday, June 19. Draws take place at 5.30pm with fishing between 6 and 9.15pm.

SEVEN members and a guest turned out last Thurs-day despite the awful weather to take part in the second match of the Fiesta Cakes Summer Evening League on the Ash Pool at Manor Farm Leisure.

Wayne Panting overcame the torrential rain and determined opposition to post a winning weight of 56.9.0.

Guest Jamie was second with 39.14.0, Rob Campden (34.2.0) was third and Simon Pickering (29.14.0) was fourth.

The penultimate match in the Nigel Howe Memorial Spring League saw eight members in action on Phil's Pool at the Jubilee Lake.

The weather was again agai-nst the competitors who braved the elements and it was Campden (18.12.0) who "reigned" supreme.

Antony Icke was runner-up with 16.15.0, Clive Leeming (15.8.0) third and Bill Scarrott finished fourth with 11.8.0.

The next match is tonight at Manor Farm ahead of Sunday's contest at Loxley where the draw is at 8am with fishing for five hours from 9.
