DROITWICH Spa's "vision for the future" is set to take another step forward this week as the town plan process reaches a critical stage.

Members of the group, which is responsible for forming the plan, are set to meet tonight (Wednesday).

Group secretary Pam Davey has admitted that so far most of the work has been put into forming the group and sub-groups that will compile the plan and that time has been spent ensuring that the group is organised and set to work effectively.

The town plan is set to act as a guide for what people in the town, both young and old, want for the future and the direction they want Droitwich Spa to take.

This week's group meeting is set to mark a crucial stage in the process because it is now that the plan can begin to be drafted and put together.

Cllr Davey said: "The group is now very much on course and can start producing the plan. It will be a move forward for us to the next stage.

"When we do produce the plan and it is a success then it will be adopted by the district council and so taken into account when decisions about Droitwich Spa are being made."

The town plan group is divided into sub-groups which are made up of residents and community bodies from the town.

The sub-groups are now at a stage where they can begin to come up with ideas, opinions and visions for the town before presenting them to the main committee.

"We will hear from the environment sub-group at the next meeting. This stage will see the plan start to come together," said Cllr Davey.

"Forming the plan is a two-year process, but we are now starting to move forward and it is good that we have now reached this stage," she added.
