A three-week extravaganza celebrating the world of local art starts this weekend at Avoncroft Museum of Historic Buildings, in Stoke Heath.

The time machine event also takes place on Sunday and Monday bringing history to life with living history displays of Tudors, Victorians, the 1940s, Vikings and craft fair with traditional and modern crafts and live demonstrations.

The museum is hosting an exhibition and art workshops by Kidderminster Arts Society. From Saturday until June 18 the museum will turn one of its rooms, The Long Room, into an exhibition centre to display works from artists depicting indoor and outdoor scenes from the immediate locality and some from further afield. Some of these paintings will also be available for sale.

The arts society is mounting four workshops on differing artistic techniques so people who have flair for art can enhance their knowledge, skills, and techniques.

The first seminar is on collagraph printing and will run over two days on May 30 and June 2. A collage workshop is on June 3 and charcoal drawing will be held on June 10. The final workshop, demonstrating the techniques of ink and wash, is on June 17.
