THE top eight pairs in Broadway's Joe Ste-ward Trophy betterball competition booked places in the knockout tournament for the Savery Cup.

Nigel Bird and Robert Lord topped the points standings with 48 to take top spot from Pete Hands and Danny Taylor.

The Harvey Cup for men aged 55 and over was a stableford event that provided bonus points dependent on age.

Sixty-year-olds were given a one-point bonus, while there were two additional points for 65-year-olds and so on!

Rod Ellis picked up 39 points on the wet and tricky course and an additional two for his age left him a comfortable victor.

Arthur Gray's 34 points was topped up by four age points to leave him in second place, while John Wayland and Bill Cook had no extra points but finished third and fourth respectively having amassed 37 points.
