ORGANISERS of a campaign to encourage more foster parents to come forward say it has been a massive success and will make a huge difference to children.

Enquiries into fostering have more than doubled since the Fostering Fortnight Campaign, when social workers and foster carers introduced a number of information sessions across the county during the fortnight.

These sessions gave members of the public the opportunity to talk to social workers and foster carers face-to-face, and answer any questions that they had.

Geri Clegg, spokesperson for Worcestershire County Council's Adoption and Fostering Service, said: "We are really pleased with the great response we have received so far in support of our campaign."

The county council still needs to recruit foster carers from all different ethnic, cultural and religious backgrounds to help care for the diverse range of Worcestershire's most vulnerable children and young people.

There are to be two information sessions taking place for people who want to find out more. The first is tonight, between 7pm and 9pm at the Whitehouse Hotel, Foregate Street, Worcester, and the second is tomorrow between 6.30pm and 8.30pm at Kidderminster Library, Market Street.
