THE last of the great road works has been completed in Redditch - with the Alvechurch Highway island open at the start of this week.
The scheme cost £1.4 million and took 19 months to complete.
Part of the project involved squeezing water out of the old marlpit and tens of thousands of square feet of earth were brought from Weights Lane to raise the ground surface.
Batchley Brook was diverted and channelled and the flow to the old Forge Mill pond also altered.
