RACE ace John Laverty suffered another frustrating weekend when heavy rain forced organisers to abandon the Irish leg of the British Superbike Championship.
And the disappointment comes on the back of the Irishman's crash with just a lap to go when leading the previous round of the competition at Oulton Park.
Laverty, part of the Redditch-based Buildbase team, put in a brilliant time ahead of the main event to secure a place on the front of the grid.
Teammate Tristan Palmer qualified third fastest but their efforts were in vain when bosses at the Mondello Park track, on the outskirts of Dublin, cancelled the meeting - the first time in the championship's history that an entire event had been washed out.
Race organisers will make a decision about a possible re-run of the meeting but, in the meantime, Laverty and Palmer head to Mallory Park from June 2-4 for the next round.
