WORCESTER Nomads entertained local rivals Malvern Ramblers in this Crusader Worcestershire County League division two fixture on Monday.

WORCESTER NOMADS V MALVERN

After winning the toss, Nomads asked Malvern to bat first and they were duly rewarded by bowling Malvern out for 144. Geoff Taylor, Ben Schiffman and James Smith were amongst the wickets. Ollie Bendall rode his luck for Malvern, scoring 51.

Nomads lost an early wicket but Dannie Rees and Ollie Flower (61) put them in control.

Steve Bowman helped the cause and left Paul Gardner and Derek Austin to score the winning runs.

Nomads secured victory with plenty of overs remaining by six wickets.

Tomorrow (Saturday), Nomads visit Belbroughton and Malvern welcome Lye.

MALVERN II V WORCESTER NOMADS II

IN the reverse fixture at Regency Road, the second XI captain Andy Leach also won the toss and asked Malvern to bat first.

Malvern were soon in trouble, losing an early wicket to Matt Ormerod (3-30).

Tom Longley (2-20) and Malcolm Jones (1-19) then restricted Malvern as they tried to increase the run-rate before Nic Lloyd dismissed the dangerous Dan Besgrove for 40.

Matt Ormerod produced at excellent piece of fielding for a run-out.

Malvern were reeling at 101-8 off 32 overs, but the heavens opened and the game was abandoned with the square under water.

Tomorrow (Saturday), Nomads are at home to Belbroughton and Malvern visit Lye.
