WEEDON'S Wabbits claimed the championship for the first time in the Poynder Tennis Squash Mixed League, held at the Malvern and County Indoor Tennis Centre based at Manor park.
The team, captained by Craig Weedon, took top spot for the first time when they just nudged ahead of last year's winners, Elgar Enigmas, captained by Barry Tuck of Manor Park.
In the ladies' indoor league, the Bromsgrove Belles were unstoppable with a maximum 10 victories.
The Green Pears were in second place with Manor Park's Bees Knees taking the third spot.
There were a record number of 11 teams competing in the ladies league and 12 in the mixed event.
The competition starts again in September.
