SUNDAY'S two races at Eve-sham were contested in vastly different conditions.

The first was a contest of guile and concentration in a light fickle wind with Ian Haywood leading from the start chased by John Pickford and Peter Green.

The leader wasn't to be caught leaving his two rivals in the Mirrors fighting it out for second place that Pickford managed to hold on to after Green's boat caught some floating debris that impeded his progress.

The second race was for the Novice Cup and was keenly contested in the brisk wind that arrived just in time for the start.

The Moths of Tony Jacks and Stuart Bonham were both in contention until a sudden blow at the windward mark capsized the latter.

The Mirror sailors were busy sailing their own race further down the fleet but, at the finish, it was Jacks who was first with John O'Brian and guest sailor Roy Timmins tieing for joint second place.
