THE president, Pauline Vining, welcomed members and our guest, Sue Coates, who described herself as an almost fully fledged WI advisor and whose job it was to lead our discussion of the resolutions for the 2006 AGM.

Carole Pigeon's cat also decided to join us, taking centre stage in the middle of the room.

Members were given a copy of the resolutions and Sue provided us with information and further details.

Both resolutions - Sport For A Healthy Population and Renewable Energy - provoked lively discussions.

Wendy Elmes, our delegate at the AGM, to be held in June in Cardiff, will take our views forward. The vote of thanks was given by Margaret Sheldon.

A report on her visit to the opening of the new WI hall in Solihull by the Duchess of Wessex, was given by Irene Humphries, who had been invited in her capacity as an ex-president of the branch.

It had obviously been a very special occasion.

Mary Taylor thanked members for their cards and good wishes both for her recent operation and also on her house move. Doris Parminter had sent her apologies and is making a good recovery from her recent operation also.

Vistors and new members are always welcome at meetings.

The speaker at the next one, to be held tomorrow at 7.30pm at Malt Mill Lane is Matthew Skinner.

Well-known to many members, he will be speaking on Trekking For Cancer.
