KEEN members of Throck-morton CPS braved the wind and rain to produce some fine scores for last month's final shoot.

On the English Sporting layout, Les Smith, A Groves and Paul Muzyka got the competition rolling with 33/60, 33/60 and 35/60 resp-ectively. John Mates later matched the latter's score that Simon Childerley impr-oved on by one bird.

John Arnold just missed out on breaking 40 by one bird, but it was Mark Knight and Phil Clarke who were the first to reach the 40-bird scoreline.

Dave Lindup then took a short lead with 41/60, before John Boraston broke away with 48/50. However, the eventual winner was Adam Barnfield who was the only competitor to reach 50/60.

In the Down the Line discipline, the scores were just as close.

John Eden who was the first to hit 25 birds for 25/25=72/75 a score bettered by Gary Shaw (25/25=73/75).

Dave Clarke and G Crowther narrowly missed a perfect score by each gaining 25/ 25=74/75 but victory went to Dave Broughall and Roy Hampton who each managed to score a perfect 25/25=75/75.

Perfect scores were also plentiful on the Skeet discipline. Dave Crowley, Brian Smith, Pat Smith and Nick Stokes all began with 23/25 to take an early lead.

Clarke and Graham Walker then caught up with the group with 24/25 but it was Simon Jones who then took his first 25/25 along with Dave Barnfield and Mark Doughty.

Jones it was who went on to take two more perfect lines, followed by Paul Colley who also recorded 25/25. Howe-ver, on his last line, Jones sadly dropped one bird to give him 99/100 as his final score and make him the day's skeet winner.
