HOT sunshine and a dry track led to fifth place and points for Simon Andrews and the Piranha Racing team at Sunday's British Supersports Championship meeting at Mallory Park.

The team continues to work on the chassis set-up that required the sacrifice of Saturday morn- ing's qualifying session.

The second was just after lunch when, and although only two riders improved on their times, it resulted in the Vale racer being relegated to tenth place.

Break fade problems were also a major cause for concern for the rider but by early Saturday evening this had been resolved.

The new chicane caused problems on lap one the next day when Andrews became boxed in resulting in him exiting the chicane in 15th place.

However, he set about making his way through the field. His braking was awesome and positively outrageous, but most gratifying was the way the bike performed to suit the Wickhamford rider's style.

"We are now much closer to what I am looking for with the R6," a satisfied Andrews commented.

"I had to work hard to get through the field but I needed to attack the chicane from the off and I lost a lot of time on the back of the circuit from that first lap."

The next race is at Snett-erton on June 18 when Andrews will be on board the Piranha R6 in the British Supersports Cha-mpionship and the Jentin R1 in the British Super-bikes.
