FRUSTRATED Redditch skipper Nev Mason saw his side crash to a seven- wicket defeat at home to Wombourne in this Division Three clash.

And he knows his team will have to show plenty more guile this weekend when they head for league leaders St Georges.Redditch made a faultless start with Dan Protherough (44) and Joe Hill (48) having an opening stand of 79. Hill and Russell Southwick then took the score along to 115-2 before a monumental collapse saw the Bromsgrove Road side reduced to 132-8 before being all out for 143 off just 40 overs.

Skipper Mason said: "We looked like we were going to post a massive score but then lost the last seven wickets for around 15 runs.

"We showed a little bit of inexperience, playing expansive shots when we should have been playing ourselves in.

"We gave wickets away cheaply and the pressure built as the wickets fell."

Wombourne were rarely in danger and easily knocked off the required runs inside 32 overs, finishing on 144-3. Southwick, Robin Biddle and John Lostitch took the wickets.

Redditch Seconds beat West Bromwich Dartmouth by four wickets, Tom Phelan's 68 and Chris Taylor's 63 helping to secure the win.

The thirds drew at Attock while there was a two wicket victory over Feckenham on Sunday.
