ENGLAND'S blind cricketers crashed to defeat against Pakistan at Redditch Cricket Club -- the second game in a four-match tour of the county.

Pakistan won the toss and opted to field on a damp wicket, restricting the English batsmen to singles early on.

After Nathan Foy was bowled by Zeshan Abbasi for 16, Luke Sugg joined Rory Field and they added 99 in 68 minutes showing steady acceleration and improved timing.

With Sugg's departure four short of his 50, Andy Powers played another brutal knock adding 87 in 42 minutes with Field.

Powers started to pierce the field scoring several twos to add to his three boundaries.

When Field was run out for 87 in the 37th over, England were still short of setting an imposing target.

The Pakistan bowlers, backed up by their fielders, kept a tight rein throughout with Abbasi and Abdul Razzaq being particularly economical, the latter varying his pace effectively.

The tourists' innings got off to an explosive start.

Muhammad Fayaz and Amir Ishfaq found the gaps with strong legside shots and the England fielders were often chasing back to the boundary on a drying outfield.

Field and Heindrich Swanepoel were soon replaced by David Townley and Bryn Reynolds and it was Townley who claimed the lone success when he had Fayaz lbw for 35.

Muhammad Ashraf Bhatti came in to play steadily while Ishfaq became more dominant .

An outstanding spell from Reynolds showed that movement of the ball away from the right hand batsmen could stop easy scoring opportunities but Pakistan were still too strong and Ishfaq was still there at the close having scored a marvellous 140 including eight fours.

The English fielding was sharp throughout with Howard Greenhill throwing himself around in front of a noisy, enthusiastic crowd.

Pakistan reached their target in 25.3 overs to gain a thoroughly deserved victory.

England eventually lost the series 3-1, their only success coming in the final game that was played at Worcestershire's New Road ground.
