CHEERFUL chairman Betty Long welcomed 70 members and guests to the May meeting, commenting how nice it was to see so many members on such a lovely warm evening.
Joan English reminded the ladies of the forthcoming trip to the Hampton Court Gardens and the Lavender Farm visit in the Cotswolds, in June, which will incorporate a lunch at Broadway and a look around Evesham as well.
Brenda Graham then told members of the summer dinner, which will be held at the Pear Tree Hotel at Smite, in August, travelling by coach.
Hazel Maddox, a member of 23 years standing who was sadly widowed ten years ago, has delighted us with the news of her forthcoming wedding. We were pleased to present her with garden centre vouchers and cards wishing her all happiness in the future.
Our speaker was one of our own members, Barbara Maskell. Her daughter married a Japanese man and Barbara was able to tell us all about the wedding in Japan and of her daughter's life there.
This, with lots of photographs and souvenirs, made a very interesting talk. Well done Barbara!
