THE May meeting was the institute's 73rd birthday and we held a party to celebrate.
Nearly all the members were present and the room looked very pretty with pansies on each table. Following a short business session from the president and secretary, a mouth-watering buffet with a glass of wine was served.
There was a quiz, some good jokes and of course plenty of talk rounded off by a sketch about the WI, which was well received. The evening was made even more celebratory by the secretary's announcement that the institute had been successful in getting a lottery grant which will enable members who wish to, to go to Denman College and bring back the knowledge. The evening ended with the drawing of the raffle.
