I PITY the person who thinks that the junction of Hanbury Road and Worcester Road is the gateway to Droitwich Spa - that's their view, but let's look further into the criticism.

The crossroads is a major accident waiting to happen and it has been like that for many years and has minimal accidents compared to the well thought out and supposed safe Chateau Impney lights.

Over-sized bath tubs for sale! Congratulations to the entrepreneur who decided to open a business at that location that was left to rot after the Droitwich Garage left for better premises on the Berry Hill site. For if it had not been taken up by this business, and the car sales, the building would surely have been an eyesore very quickly.

Yes, spa baths are in fashion and we would be a fool to turn our backs on fashion.

As for the computer games shop with a shabby second-hand sign, surely a coincidence that the sign being second-hand fitted the shop and business perfectly, or do we suppose that the proprietor used the old sign and lavished his artistic talents on it. May I remind readers that flourishing businesses take a long time to establish and the first 12 months of trading in any business is the make or break time. Perhaps the shopkeeper thought that £800 on a new all professional sign just wasn't viable, but who knows in a few years' time they might invest in a sign to please certain people. But what I will say is the shop is better than an empty shop that had smeared windows.

If you're worried what tourists might say, I think they would rather see a bustling area than empty shops and forecourts, when the tourist should really be worried about the two six foot signs at the top of the High Street telling them it's a safe pedestrian zone after 10.30am Saturdays only to find their child mown down before them because no action is taken against drivers breaking the law. If I know it's not safe because of local knowledge what chance does a tourist, up for the day, have? They can only read the sign others ignore.
