FOLLOWING a recent visit to Bromsgrove town centre, I am writing with my concerns about the reduction of parent and baby/toddler parking spaces. It appears that three parent car parking spaces have been converted into disabled car parking spaces.

Whilst I agree with this provision, as a mother with a small child I feel that the reduction in spaces for parents to use is totally unfair, when other spaces in the car park could easily have been utilised. It also proves extremely difficult to purchase tickets when the machines are so far away from the parking spaces, causing the dilemma of whether to leave my child alone in the car or take her to the ticket machine and back again.

If these few spaces are occupied, we as parents do not have the privilege of parking in the disabled spaces, like disabled drivers can park in parent/child spaces. Some people with blue badges have little consideration about how difficult it can be, getting babies/toddlers out of cars parked in small spaces, due to parent spaces being used by blue badge owners.

Local disabled drivers have the use of over 90 spaces, compared to only 11 parent spaces which are all on ASDA and outside, which is lovely in the pouring rain. It would help if the ticket machines were undercover like Tesco, or within the multi-storey car park.

All the blue badge spaces up to now have been sited by ticket machines...Why? They have only just started to pay for parking.

I do hope the council can take my concerns seriously and make some useful changes.
