Droitwich Spa 86 all out Pershore 87-3

Droitwich lost by seven wickets

DEFENDING champions Droitwich crashed out of the Worcestershire League Cup last week after a batting collapse.

Spa's batsmen were unable to make to an impact as Pershore's bowlers took control of the game at St Peter's Field.

The team never recovered from the loss of openers Josh Staines (4) and Andrew Van Vuuren (7), both of whom fell foul of bowler Martin Johnson.

Johnson also removed Damon Gariff (10), while Jerome Connor (2) and Steve Walsh (11) were victims of Lee Wilks.

Andrew Fletcher top scored with 17 runs but Droitwich were bowled out for a paltry 86.

Michael Rogers made an early breakthrough by dismissing Percival for ten but Cooper (24) and White (13) frustrated the bowlers.

Van Vuuren removed Cooper and White was ran out, but Rivers-Smith's 31 not out guided Pershore to 87-3 and condemned Spa to defeat.
