SAM Carter produced three personal bests when he competed in the Midland Men's TRF meeting in Yate.

The Bromsgrove & Redditch athlete threw 55.70m in the javelin, 35.06 in the discus and 35.09 in the hammer while taking second place in the shot with a throw of 11.72m.

There was a double victory for James Hart in the A high jump and triple jump and he also set a pb in the 200m where his time of 24.2s was enough for third in the B race.

A time of 1.56.1 was enough to secure first place in the 800m A race for Matt Addison while the B race was won by the team's youngest member James Hood in 2.04.3.

The team finished fifth out of eight.

Bromsgrove & Redditch's young athletes were also in Yate for their league meeting.

And the best performance of the day came from Sean Bowden who won the 1500m u15s boys event in 4.26.5. He also ran a pb of 26.5 to take second in the 200m.

Simon Lankham ran a pb of 5.15.2 in the 1500m steeplechase to finish second. He also took part in the javelin and 800m.

The pick of the girls was Georgie Savage who came second in the u13s 1200m in 4.09.3. Amy Irish ran her first 300m hurdles race and came third.

Worcestershire's schools championships take place in Worcester on Saturday.
