A HEALTH or social care worker could hold clues to the identity of a man who committed a serious sexual assault on a young woman in Batchley.

The Bromsgrove woman, who was in her early 20s, was waiting at a bus stop in Poplar Road on Tuesday, May 16 at about 7pm when the attack happened.

She was approached by a white man who struck up a conversation with her. He then made explicit comments to the woman before assaulting her.

Pc Fergus Green, of Redditch police, said "This man was very distinctive in his appearance."

He was about 30 with a skinny build and shaggy medium length blonde and grey hair. He had stubble and his teeth were blackened with some missing and he was wearing a black suit with a large gold sovereign ring on one hand.

According to Pc Ferguson, the man used sign language to the woman as well as speech and may have had learning disabilities, which is why they are keen to hear from health or social care workers who may know of him.

"The incident was very frightening for the victim.

"We are very keen to identify this individual, who we have a very good description of and who has acted in such an unusual manner," he said.
