FANS of the delicate sounds of the flute and modern folk music should look no further than Worcester's Huntingdon Hall when Michael McGoldrick performs on Friday, June 9.
The winner of BBC Radio 2's Folk Awards the artist combines traditional music with alternative sounds to create a modern folk music.
Regarded as one of the greatest flute players of all time, McGoldrick was a founder member of popular band Flook. He shot to prominence as a solo artist with the release of his second album Fused, which mixed traditional folk with trance music in a ground-breaking way.
The album combined various musical styles and instruments, including trumpet and saxophone with tablas, bamboo flute and electric guitar. He has also collaborated with eclectic DJ Talvin Singh and has mixed Celtic music with jazz and Indian styles.
