I would like to point out to your readers that the home made signs referred to in the article titled "Signs To Stop Dogged Issue " had nothing to do with the Charity Crescent Residents Association, and as far as I am aware, were not even in the Charity Crescent area.

CHACRA's issue is with Evesham Town Council and the District Council, and their prevarication over the supply of a dog bin(s) in Charity Crescent. Despite Pershore Town Council's decision (recently reported) to purchase dog bins, Evesham Town stubbornly refuse to follow suit and protect residents' health. For several years, we have been campaigning for a dog bin(s) to be placed in Charity Crescent, which is a very popular thoroughfare for local dog walkers. Whilst the majority of owners are responsible, there is still a stubborn minority who insist on not clearing up after their pet. Although bins are not the total answer, I suspect the few irresponsible dog owners are disinclined to "scoop the poop" partly because they have to carry it with them back to their home. A dog bin would therefore assist those owners as well as the responsible majority.

This is a health issue, for residents, but for the past few years Evesham Town Council appear to have ignored this, preferring to place the responsibility for provision with the District Council, who in turn refer it back to the Town Council !

All this despite the District's offer of a free bin for every one financed by Evesham Town. However, recently, we were informed that this 2 for 1 policy had now been suspended by the District, and that any chance of obtaining dog bins from District or Town in the near future was a forlorn hope. So, well done Pershore Town Council ! Perhaps you can persuade Evesham Town Council to be as concerned about their residents' health and environment as you appear to be. Up till now, that concern has been sadly lacking from our esteemed Town Council.

Gerry O'Donnell, CHACRA Chairman, Evesham.
