WEST End stars, singers and musicians will perform a programme of musical favourites at Kidderminster Town Hall.

The Sound of Musicals, compered by BBC Midlands Today presenter Michael Collie, will be staged on Sunday, June 18.

The Bostin' Pops Orchestra and Singers will take to the stage together with Beverley Worboys and Christopher Key who both grew up in Wyre Forest.

There are 20 local amateur and professional performers who make up the Singers and they will be accompanied by a 20-piece orchestra.

Currently based in Switzerland, Beverley has performed in productions including Andrew Lloyd Webber's Aspects of Love and Pirates of Penzance by Gilbert and Sullivan.

Christopher is currently starring in Les Miserables and has played the part of Chucky in Jerry Springer - The Opera in London

He has also starred in ITV's London's Burning and in shows such as My Fair Lady and The Beautiful Game.

The concert is the brainchild of the orchestra's artistic director, David Howles of Kidderminster, who has been a professional musician since 1984.

In September 2004, Mr Howles organised The Sounds of Stage and Screen to mark his 40th birthday at the town hall, which included performances from Wyre Forest singers Russell Painter and Jonathan Darby.

The father-of-two decided to hold a second extravaganza to raise money for Christian charity, World Vision, which sponsors children in developing countries.

Mr Howles, who has performed with the likes of Terry Wogan and Shirley Bassey, said: "I'm just trying to get things going in Wyre Forest. Although there are a lot of great amateur groups, we don't get many professional performers coming to the area."

Tickets, for the event, which starts at 3pm, are available from the town hall and by calling 0845 373 4124. For further information log on to www.bostinpops.com
