CLASSICAL MUSIC SOCIETY - A group of members visited Wolverhampton Recorded Music Society to present a programme entitled "C'mon Folks" which featured music based on folk tunes.

Bob Drew opened the programme with George Enescu's Romanian Rhapsody opus 11 and this was followed by Gwen Jones's choice, The Norfolk Rhapsody, by Ralph Vaughan-Williams and Two Folk Songs by Percy Grainger.

Terry Wilkinson closed the first half of the programme with George Gershwin's Rhapsody in Blue.

After the interval, Graham Kiteley chose Grainger's Lincolnshire Posy and David Norman was the final presenter, with Dances of Marossek by Zoltan Kodaly.

At the annual meeting, on May 19, officers and committee were re-elected en bloc: chairman Graham Kiteley, vice chair/publicity Von Stewart, treasurer Bob Drew, secretary Gwen Jones, committee Moira Brown, Ann Norman and Bob Polfreman, plus new member Katharine Butterworth.

KIDDERMINSTER CYCLING CLUB - There are two rides this Sunday.

The A ride starts at 9am and is an informal ride with the destination to be decided on the day. The B ride also starts at 9am and is a car assisted ride to the Churnet Valley.

Both rides leave from the Green, Blakebrook, opposite the hospital. All cyclists will be welcome and should bring a packed lunch. On Wednesday there is an evening ride to Ye Old New Inn at Pound Green. The ride leaves The Green at 7pm.

KIDDERMINSTER FIELD CLUB - Members have recently visited Madresfield Court and Ledbury, the Redditch Needle Museum and Highbury Hall, Birmingham.

The next outing will take place on Saturday, June 24. This will be a visit to Evesham, where there will be an escorted tour of the museum, time to look around the town and a boat ride on the River Avon ending with afternoon tea. Contact 01299 405254 to book.
