TWO vehicles were broken into and satellite navigation systems stolen while the cars were parked on driveways in Pershore.

One of the incidents involved a blue BMW 5 Series saloon parked on the driveway of the owners house in Conningsby Drive.

The front nearside window was smashed and a TomTom sat-nav system worth around £320 was stolen.

The incident is thought to have happened between 7pm on Thursday, June 1 and 9am the following day.

The second theft occurred when thieves broke into a blue Nissan Navara pick-up and a sat-nav system worth £400 was stolen from the vehicle also parked on the owners driveway.

Also taken in the theft were a laser level, tripod and a Makita jigsaw.

The police want to hear from members of the public who may have been offered sat-nav systems for sale or may know the whereabouts of the stolen systems.

A police spokesman said: "Sat-nav systems left in cars make a tempting target for thieves who don't worry about damaging cars to get access to the systems

"We cannot stress highly enough the importance and good sense of owners taking sat-nav systems out of their cars when the vehicle is not in use and that goes for dashboard holders for these pieces of kit too."

Police are urging local residents, or other members of the public who were in the area at the time of the offences and may have seen some suspicious activity to get in touch by phoning 08457 444 888.
