A COUPLE who met when they were teenagers will celebrate their 65th wedding anniversary this month and revealed the secret to a successful marriage - caring for one another.

Bunny and Norah Carter of Three Cocks Lane, Offenham, met while on the Noah's Ark ride at the Evesham Mop Fair back in 1938 and went on to marry two years later.

Bunny said: "We went out with one another for two years and when I was 18 and Norah 19 we married at the Evesham Register Office, as it was during the war. While I was away Norah worked on her father's land growing vegetables and fruit until we worked in pubs throughout the Vale."

Bunny, now 84 went onto to join the Royal Navy for four and half years before returning home to work at Frank Sharp's fruit and vegetable store - now the Ambassador snooker hall in Avon Street - for 25 years.

"We took on the Royal British Legion Club in Offenham for five years then we ran the Sandar's Arms, and then King Edward's in South Littleton."

Despite being retired for about 20 years Bunny continues to work on his land in Offenham and is looking forward to celebrating their wedding anniversary on Wednesday, June 21 with a short break in Weston-super-Mare in Sept-ember.
