WYRE Forest good causes will benefit from cash raised through two raffles giving people the chance to get their hands on a rare piece of 1966.

Both Inchbusters Toning and Therapy Centre and Players Bar are giving away retro football shirts signed by nine of the surviving heroes, who etched themselves into the nation's football folklore by defeating West Germany to lift the Jules Rimet trophy.

Wembley hat-trick hero, Geoff Hurst, is one of the stars to have added his signature, along with team mates Martin Peters, who was also on target that day, Alan Ball, Nobby Stiles and goalkeeper Gordon Banks.

Money raised from ticket sales for the Inchbusters top, believed to be worth about £750, will be split between a district youth football team, an animal rescue or welfare charity and two other good causes nominated by residents.

The shirt will be on view at the Oxford Street shop during a special open day on Saturday, June 17 and the final draw will be held on Friday, August 25.

Phylip de la Maziere, a partner in the business, said: "It really is a once in a lifetime prize and will increase in value as the years go by. It will look fantastic hanging on someone's wall or mantelpiece.

"We did not think it was fair for all the proceeds to go to one single charity or cause.

"We want the people of Kiddermin-ster to support it by buying tickets and also having a say on where the money goes by handing in their nominations to be drawn."

The Players Bar shirt is standing proudly inside the premises and the draw will be held after the whistle blows for this year's final - hopefully, just as England skipper David Beckham lifts the trophy.

All money gathered will be handed over to the British Institute of Learning Disabilities, which has a site opposite the Green Street bar.

Licensee, Dominic Gill, said: "We are new here and so are they. They approached us to do something and we just thought, why not? We wanted to help a local cause and I don't think we could have got involved with anyone nearer to us."
