KIDDERMINSTER fund-raisers and their army of cuddly bears are hoping the Three Lions roar all the way to glory in a cash bid boost.

Staff at Kemp Hospice, which helps people with life-limiting illnesses, are asking Wyre Forest residents to have a go at guessing the name of one of their furry friends to help the cause.

Every St George Cross-clad World Cup bear is named after an England star of past tournaments and members of this year's squad.

There are 100 names to choose from, with each guess costing £1, and the Mason Road charity is hoping to add to the 15 bears already distributed around the district.

Patricia Head, head of marketing and fund-raising at Kemp, said everyone was keeping their fingers crossed England go all the way.

She said: "We hope the boys do well because the further they go, the more money we will raise. All the funds we gather are vital.

"I do not know what we have got planned for the games here but I am sure we will be doing something to cheer them on."
