Evesham Utd Ladies 4,

Burlish Olympic 6

THE visitors arrived at Common Road having taken maximum points from their opening three fixtures.

United, who had never defeated the visitors, started slowly and found themselves two goals down after only 13 minutes.

Evesham reduced the deficit four minutes later when Sam Perry's though ball found Amy Summers who held off a defender on the edge of the penalty area and stroked the ball past the goalkeeper.

A harshly awarded 26th minute free-kick restored Burlish's two-goal advantage as the cross evaded everyone and nestled in the corner.

Despite this setback Evesham began to get on top with Perry twice and Summers forcing saves from the visiting keeper. However, the home side were caught out three minutes before half-time when a long ball forward caused problems at the back and left an easy opportunity to make it 4-1.

It could have been worse a minute later when a penalty was awarded when last defen-der Laura Westwood tripped Prescott as she was through on goal. Fortunately for the home side, the referee took no action and then Calder hit a post from 12 yards.

The Robins started the second half in a more determined fashion and pulled a goal back after only two minutes. A great pass by Lucy Jeffs found Summers who ran on and squared the ball for Perry to find the net.

Six minutes later Perry netted again when she ran on to a ball played forward by Char-lene McLoughlin and, with the hosts now sensing an equaliser, their defensive frailties were again exposed as another long ball forward saw Prescott complete her hat-trick.

Eleven minutes from time United were again caught out as yet another long ball found Prescott who ran on to score her fourth.

United completed the scoring in stoppage-time when Jeffs crossed for Summers to net from close-range.

Evesham travel to the Valley Stadium to take on Redditch VC on Sunday (2pm).
