Evesham United Ladies 1, Malvern Town 1

UNITED could have found themselves a goal behind inside the first minute when the ball was played in to a Town striker who contrived to shoot wide.

Sam Perry then bore down on the visiting goal but her shot was pushed for a corner.

Evesham were having the better of the early play but it was Malvern that took an opportunist lead from a 17th minute free-kick.

This setback spurred on the home side but, despite creating a number of chances, they failed to hit the target with at least three reasonable efforts that were fired wide of the goal.

The second half began with Sunday's hosts still in control and eight minutes in they produced a fine equaliser as Stephanie Clement's lofted ball forward was met by Perry who sent a lob into the roof of the net for her 36th goal of the season.

The pacy Perry again left the Town defence in her wake but, after rounding the goalkeeper, her shot ended on the roof of the net.

The visiting goalkeeper kept Malvern in the game when she leapt high to her left to keep out a strike from Lola Hughes after a corner from Becky Handy.

Amy Summers eased past her marker 11 minutes from time to produce a fine cross that was sliced just wide of the post by a defender.

Perry almost sealed victory for Evesham in the 81st minute when her shot beat the goalkeeper but kicked up off the hard ground and just cleared the bar.

With the home defence again superbly marshalled by Laura Westwood, Malvern made little headway and were, in the end, somewhat fortuitous to escape with a point.

The ladies are in action at Common Road tomorrow night (7.30) when they are facing the challenge of a team from the Fairfield Inn.

All monies raised will be donated to the County Air Ambulance. Admission is £3 for adults and £1 concessions.
