CELEBRATIONS to mark the centenary of Holy Trinity Church, Lickey, included a gift day, which raised the magnificent sum of £1,195. Some of the money would be used to buy the former Church of England school opposite and which had not been used for 11 years. Part of the building would be converted to a home for the verger - the remainder as a scout and guide headquarters.

THE Isobel Morcom medal and prize for 1955 had been awarded to Mrs S Haines, the district nurse/midwife for Catshill for the past 25 years. The awards recognised outstanding work in the nursing profession and were given by Col Morcom from the Clockhouse, Fockbury, in memory of his late wife.

TENANTS living in council houses in the Perryfields area of Bromsgrove could soon be enjoying the good life. The district council was proposing to acquire nearby allotment land from the county on which pigs and poultry could be reared.
