STUDLEY skipper Richard Gregory paid tribute to twins Omaad and Jamaad Nazir after the pair helped guide the Division Two side to their first win.

And the Washford Fields outfit bagged the victory at one of the early season pace-setters, Aston Manor.

"They were two of the best knocks I have seen at the club," Gregory said after seeing the teenage twins steer Studley into a match-winning position.

Batting first, Studley were soon in trouble with opener Ash Newdick (31) the only player to get to grips with the Aston Manor attack.

Gregory added: "They bowled well and at one stage we were on around 70-5."

That brought the Nazir twins to the crease and the 18-year-olds steadied the innings with a mature display.

Omaad led the way with 90, his first half century for the club, while Jamaad was still there at the close on 53.

Set a total of 233-7, Aston Manor began confidently but although opener Sehn struck a century, the bowling of Brandon Miller (6-73) and Mark Lewis (3-66) kept the run rate down. In the end they finished 14 runs short as they were all out for 219.

"They started well but left themselves with too much to do," Gregory added.

Studley are in action tonight in the second round of the Birmingham League's Twenty20 Challenge Cup.

Premier Division side Stratford head to Washford Fields (6.30pm) after Studley beat Leamington in their first-round clash.
