WHILE the good residents of Bromsgrove have - and are making - every effort to recycle their household and garden rubbish, what of commercial outlets?

The question I've been asking is - 'What happens to the contents of the commercial wheely bins and skips?'

The answer from the waste management team at County Hall is: "It all goes to landfill and they pay the taxes."

Now that cannot be a sustainable operation when so much of the material is recyclable eg wood, bricks, rubble soil etc. Much of it is recyclable back into the local community, if sorted. Wood could be given free to collectors from a central site!

Some control of what is actually placed into wheely bins and skips may be necessary but there is now reason why there should not be urgent action to address this waste of resources. And the costs, the taxes paid to tip could be used to recycle.
