Droitwich 308-5 Bromsgrove 236 all out

Droitwich won by 72 runs

CAPTAIN Paul Bryan hit a century to inspire Droitwich to an impressive victory over Bromsgrove in the Worcestershire Sunday League.

Bryan's 103 not out was the outstanding piece of batting in an already impressive performance by Spa's run gatherers at St Godwalds on Sunday.

Droitwich had recovered from the loss of Alex Kolb (26), who was dismissed by Harry Smith, but Phillip Thomas made a solid 47 before he was caught by Richard Hope off Daniel Fisher.

Smith struck again when he had Damon Gariff bowled for a duck but Bryan's 103 put the pressure back on Bromsgrove.

The captain formed a strong partnership with Steve Walsh (70) until he was caught by Daniel Fisher off Smith's delivery.

Michael Rogers continued Spa's good form with the bat by hitting 37, before Paul Duffy caught him and Neil Davies made six not out as Droitwich reached 308-5.

Smith (3-63) was the pick of Bromsgrove's bowlers.

Bromsgrove made a solid reply until Rogers dismissed Jordan Rose (34) and Tom Green (39), while Gariff bowled Simon Allison for 26.

Tom Hope (14) was caught and bowled by Richard Tredwell, but Daniel Fisher sparked a small Bromsgrove resurgence with 33 before he was bowled by Martin Woodward.

Thomas then dismissed Richard Hope (21) and Duffy (13), as Bromsgrove's resistance came to an end on 236 all out.

Woodward and Thomas were Droitwich's main wicket takers with two each.

l Spa, who lead the Worcestershire Sunday League Division One, take on bottom side Barnt Green this Sunday (2pm start) away from home.
