Avoncroft obtain winning draw
AVONCROFT suffered a batting collapse but managed to hold on for a share of the points in the Worcestershire League Division Two on Saturday.
'Croft were unable to capitalise on a strong start with the bat and were left hanging on for a losing draw at home to Luctonians.
The home side lost the toss and were put into bowl by Luctonians. The away side made a strong start - reaching 64-0.
Dave James made a breakthrough when he trapped Hicks lbw for 32.
The dismissal spurred 'Croft onto victory and Luctonians slipped to 104-4, before Platford (69) and Rollings (63) forged a 123 fifth wicket stand.
James was 'Croft's most effective bowler with a five wicket haul, while Luctonians made 283-8.
After the loss of Richard Sinclair for 26 ,Nick Passant and Andy Nicol guided the hosts to 113-1.
However, the loss of Nicol on 66 sparked a collapse as 'Croft struggled to 202-9.
Avoncroft to go Coombs Wood this Saturday (1.30pm start).
