AFTER making easy progress into the semi-finals of the Worcestershire County League Knockout Cup, Pershore were unable to take that form into Saturday's league game against Droitwich.

The visitors rattled up a daunting 275-6 - a total that proved out of the home side's reach despite a brave bid to recover from deep trouble at 30-3.

Connor was Droitwich's major contributor with an innings of 137 that ended in the 48th over.

The opener received sound support down the order but Pershore's efforts to dismiss him were handicapped by an injury to Martin Johnson who was forced off the field with a dislocated shoulder with 20 overs still left to be delivered.

Lee Wilks was the home side's best with the ball and his figures of 4-69 included two wickets courtesy of excellent boundary catches by David White and Reuben Rivers-Smith.

The latter pair then failed to shine with the bat and it was only when Wilks joined Stephen Cooper that Droit-wich's total looked gettable.

The fourth wicket pair added 125 before the game turned on their dismissals in the same Mike Rogers over.

Wilks fell for 56 and Cooper hit 83 to leave Liam Ridings and Phil Oxley to carry on the good work until wickets were lost off consecutive balls from Garriff leaving Oxley (26no) and Trevor Ridings to bat out the last five overs as the innings closed on 223-7.

Cooper hit 45 last Thursday night after Netherton had been restricted to 130-5 from their 14 eight-ball overs.

The opener helped Mark Stevens add 117 in a mere nine overs to lay a platform for victory that was achieved without further mishap with four overs to spare and Stevens carrying his bat for 53.
