LEAGUE team captain Peter Sumner and visiting partner Graham Tweeney topped the Stableford standings at Bro-adway's Men's Invitation.

The pair amassed 45 points to win by just one from Jess Enderby and Duncan Carter who finished runners-up on countback.

One of the club's major trophies as up for grabs when a mixture of low and middle handicap players returned good scores in the Stanley Bowl competition.

A number of players had their handicaps trimmed most notably junior member Aris Alexiou whose 41 point total saw his handicap cut by a shot to 13.

Richard Tate pipped Alexiou for second spot on countback and also saw his handicap reduced by a shot to seven, while winner by two shots Paul Archer lost two shots and will now play off 12.

Richard Rouse and Lyn Cha-mbers were the winners of the John Freeman Open Green-somes after carding a net 67 in the glorious conditions.

Home duo Ian Watkins and Julia Ward carded an 82 to win the best gross prize.
