BROADWAY'S week got off to a bad start when the Red team lost to Oldminster in the Double Rink competition by one shot when a 15-shot victory by Phil Taylor was negated by Brian Ford's 16-shot loss.

Broadway entertained Entaco last Saturday and were comprehensively beaten 124-77 after victory on a single rink when Harry Keyte triumphed 29-11.

Peter Springell went into the last end all-square but dropped five shots to go down 21-16, while Ford also lost by five shots after coming back from 11-2 down at halfway.

The Dennis family had a bad day with Jeffery losing 28-12 and dad David on the wrong end of a 46-7 hammering.

Rink scores: R Bryant, J Moore, R Turner, D Dennis 7-46. P Groom, J Chapman, T Morley, P Springell 16-21. C Gore, J Davies, T Chambers, B Ford 13-18. M Barnes, P Bowes, B Warren, J Dennis 12-28. P Hale, P Smith, J Barlow, H Keyte 29-11.

Broadway entertained Worce-ster BC in the EBA Top Club competition and, in what was always going to be a competitive game, there was little to choose between the sides.

The Two-Wood Singles highlighted this as it went all the way to the 21st end with Simon Jones edging home 14-13.

Richard and Dennis Hall, meanwhile, were always behind in the Pairs and eventually lost 24-15.

The remaining three disciplines were extremely close and, after 15 ends, Broadway were up in two and all-square in the Triples.

However, a strong finish from the Worcester rinks saw them forge ahead and end the club's interest in this prestigious event.

Scores - Two-Wood Singles: P Taylor 13, S Jones 14. Four-Wood Singles: A Walters 19 M Atkins 18. Pairs: D Hall, R Hall 15 G Burbidge, R Stanley 24. The club's Pairs competition reached the semi-final stage last Sunday when, after a day of upsets, John Davies and Nor-man Appleby will now meet Viv Hall and Jeffery Dennis and Terry Chambers and John Cha-pman will face Leslie Rafferty and Ron Ryman.
