STAND-IN skipper Neal Radford and the returning Mike Granacki were the stars as Evesham recorded an excellent Birmingham Premier League win at Pelsall last Saturday.

Captain Barry Clements was unable to travel but his charges did him proud with openers Jon Gregory and half-century maker Ian Suckling adding 80 for the first wicket.

Faulty shot selection cost several middle order men their wickets and it was left Granacki to cement the innings with a calm and sensible innings that helped the visitors reach a far from demanding 198.

Adam Brookes struck soon into the home side's reply with two scalps, including danger man Barton, while Alex Harrison bowled well without luck early on.

Off-spinner Gavin Spares grabbed a couple of vital wickets at the top of the order but it was a brilliant piece of fielding and a direct hit from Gregory that swung the game Evesham's way.

Harrison returned to take a couple of deserved wickets before Radford polished off the lower order with three victims to secure a 38-run success.

Clements, meanwhile, was in second team action at Avon Street where his business-like knock of 77 helped the hosts to 273-9.

Will Bailey then sent both Ombersley openers packing and, when spinner Langstone took a third wicket, the chasers were facing a heavy defeat.

The middle order had other ideas and but Jamie Anderson helped Langstone spin out several batsmen to help dismiss the visitors for 223.

There was to be no repeat of that winning double 24 hours later when both sides slumped to Clubs League reverses.

Kidderminster Victoria rattled up 269-5 in the first team game before dismissing Evesham for 219 with Scott Marshall top scoring with 60.

Lisa Martin took all four Victoria second team wickets to fall but the visitors lost by six wickets after only amassing 210-9 in their 45 overs. Chris Ayliffe hit 65 and Danny Sproul 45.
