A LACKLUSTRE bowling display proved costly for Worcestershire Cricket League, Division Four strugglers Hewell at the weekend.

Skipper Dave Mullard played a captain's innings with an unbeaten 84 as his side reached 283-3 against high-fliers Kidderminster Victoria.

But the visitors wasted little time and plundered a series of boundaries off the Hewell attack as they stormed to 286-1 and a nine-wicket victory.

Feckenham skipper Pete Monk was another player among the runs as his side played host to Alveley in Division Three North.

The visitors reached 182-8 from their allotted overs and Monk's unbeaten 53 helped Feckenham cruise to a seven-wicket win as they responded with 186-3.

In Division One, Alvechurch picked up their first win of the season, a three-wicket victory at title hopefuls Brockhampton.

The home side were dismissed for 186, Chris Wolstencroft doing much of the damage with 4-50.

The Alvechurch reply saw Nick Jones hit an unbeaten 68 as the Hopwood side reached 187-7.

That win lifts Alvechurch above an out-of-sorts Astwood Bank side who slumped to a two-wicket defeat at Bewdley.

Stef Jagielski (56) and Bryan Melliard (63no) helped the visitors to 241-5 but that wasn't enough as their hosts reached 244-8 despite Pete Alexander taking 5-84.
