WEST MIDLAND BIRD CLUB KIDDERMINSTER BRANCH - There was one shower during the annual dawn chorus walk on Kinver Edge on May 21. The walk, led by a WMBC member and the National Trust warden of Kinver Edge, resulted in 30 species being identified with the rewards for the early morning rise being a small flock of crossbills, three pipits and a cuckoo in flight.

Breakfast in the garden was then hosted by the warden's wife.

The annual regional birdwatchers summer fair and wildlife digital photo show took place at the Arrow Valley Country Park, Redditch on June 3 and 4. Branch members helped on the club's stand.

A family day has been organised by the branch on Sunday. The destination is Venus Pool Nature Reserve, which is a Shropshire Ornithological Society Site, situated off the A458 between Cressage and Cross Houses.

Members should meet in the car park at 10am for a morning of bird watching and a guided walk in the afternoon.
