BUDDING Alan Sugars are preparing for the regional final of a competition designed to find the best young business people in schools.

Stourport High School's Young Enterprise company, Amber, will represent Worcestershire and Herefordshire in the West Midlands regional final of the HSBC Young Enterprise Innovation Awards. The event is being held at Aston Villa FC next Thursday.

Amber won the best company award in the two counties' final of the competition last month, mentored by their teacher, Catherine Pearson and business adviser, John Lowe.

The company has produced a range of air fresheners.

Amber attended the Bewdley Christmas Fair and a trade fair at Kidderminster College in December. It won the best stall award, judged by the Wyre Forest area board of Young Enterprise.

Students involved with Amber are Matt Barnett, Becci Donnelly, Kirsty Hughes, Dean Puplett, Jayson Sheward, Joe Ward and Francesca Hocking.

l Wyre Forest and Hartle-bury companies missed out on the major titles in an awards scheme for businesses across Worcestershire and Herefordshire.

Winners in the Chamber Awards 2006 were announ-ced last Thursday.

None of the categories in the competition, run by the Chamber of Commerce Herefordshire and Worcestershire, were won by local contenders.

There was highly recommended recognition, however, for Kidderminster's Intelect Electrical Contract-ors in the most promising new business category.

In the entrepreneur of the year section, David Martin, of Arctic Spas, Hartlebury, was highly commended.

The Kiddies Day Nursery, of Kidderminster, earned double highly commended recognition, in the categories for business commitment in the community and for skills development.
